Provided by the Smith River Alliance and funded by the Del Norte County Resource Advisory Council, the Smith River Immersion Camps offer the opportunity to:

  • Immerse yourself in the experience of snorkeling the Smith River
  • Learn about stream ecology with hands-on exercises
  • Become an expert in identifying different types of trout and salmon
  • Enjoy team-building activities at Rock Creek Ranch
  • Learn how to participate in annual fish surveys
  • Become eligible for an awarded and paid internship

Youth Camp, July 22-25, 2008

14-18 year old youth are invited to participate in a Smith River Immersion Camp. This four-day camp operates 9am-5pm with the addition of an overnight on the third day.  Meals, equipment and instruction included.  The cost is $50 for Del Norte County Residents and $120 for non-residents. Scholarship applications are available upon request.

Family Camp, TBA

Parents with children may participate in a similar camp later in the summer. Families will be able to camp at Rock Creek for up to two nights and participate in activities to suit all ages. The cost is $50-$150 per family. Inquire for details.
